Delphi Behavioral Health Group Announces U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen visits Maryland House Detox

LINTHICUM, Md., Sept. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Delphi Behavioral Health Group, a leading nationwide provider of addiction and detox treatment programs, announced today that U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen visited Maryland House Detox on Friday, September 14, for a tour and conversation about the ongoing opioid epidemic and efforts to fight back.

U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen visited Maryland House Detox on Friday, September 14, 2018, not only to recognize the 29th Annual National Recovery Month, but to also discuss the fight against the opioid epidemic and the need to invest in public and private agencies and programs that support this fight, including those funded through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. "As a member of the Appropriations Committee, Senator Van Hollen has consistently fought for increased funding to support prevention, treatment, and recovery for individuals struggling with substance abuse and other mental health issues and we were honored to be chosen to speak with the Senator about our efforts to be resource to all those struggling with the disease of mental illness and substance use disorders," according to David Stup, the co-founder of Maryland House Detox (MHD) and Director of Operations for Delphi Behavioral Health Group, the parent company to MHD.

Located in Linthicum, Maryland, approximately 10 miles south of Baltimore, Maryland House Detox provides 24 hour, 7 days per week of medically monitored detoxification with an average length of stay of 5-7 days, followed by a highly personalized warm transition into the next level of care. The facility holds 16 beds, with two designated for low-income patients, and is able to accommodate as many as 100 new patients each month.

"With the support of The Halifax Group, we have been able to extend our exceptional clinical treatment to those in and around Anne Arundel County, and through Maryland House Detox, we hope to provide life-changing care to as many individuals struggling with addiction as possible," said Dominic Sirianni, CEO at Delphi Behavioral Health Group.

"Visiting Maryland House Detox was an opportunity to hear stories from folks on the ground about the Senate's efforts to tackle the opioid epidemic. This week the Senate passed the bipartisan Opioid Crisis Response Act. In addition to the $3.8 billion that Congress is planning to allocate in FY2019 to invest in agencies and programs that support this fight, this piece of legislation will help support prevention, treatment, and recovery for individuals struggling with substance abuse and other mental health issues. But our work is only getting started. As I heard at Maryland House Detox, we must keep fighting to end the terrible personal and economic toll the opioid epidemic has had on our communities. I appreciate the work that Maryland House Detox does, and I will continue working to expand addiction treatment and services."
