CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cytel Inc., the world’s leading biometrics CRO, and provider of clinical research software, today announced the expansion of its presence in Europe with new offices in Barcelona and Paris. The company’s presence now encompasses over 800 staff across 10 offices in Europe, USA, and India. The new sites will enable Cytel to continue to grow its global team of biostatisticians and statistical programmers to support biopharmaceutical customers. The Barcelona location will also serve as a hub for Cytel’s fast-growing data science group, which adds big data capabilities to the company’s service offering.
‘The development of a dedicated data science group is a natural progression for Cytel, as an established leader in the fields of biostatistics and data analysis.’ explains Yannis Jemiai, Vice President Strategic Consulting. ‘There is now a wealth of genomic, proteomic, diagnostic and electronic data available with the power to transform healthcare. We will apply our significant statistical know-how to the mission of unlocking its potential.’
Rajat Mukherjee, Director Strategic Consulting at Cytel adds, ‘We have seen a significant increase in demand for our expertise in the data science space, and our group has supported a range of biomarker discovery, signal detection, and data mining projects. By bringing in new hires from complementary disciplines like biomedical engineering and bioinformatics, we will deliver a broader offering to our biopharma and medical device customers. Barcelona is an ideal location enabling us to access specialized talent from the city's world-class scientific graduate programs.’
In further development, Cytel is ramping up facilities in Paris where it will hire biostatisticians and statistical programmers to support both functional service partnerships and study-based projects. The Barcelona office will also add new headcount in these areas.
Irving Dark, Senior Vice President at Cytel said, ‘These developments further enhance our robust delivery capabilities. Our global portfolio of biopharmaceutical customers includes leading European sponsors, who recognize how centralizing biometrics services with a specialist provider improves data quality. With an upsurge in demand for our outsourcing solutions in the region, the timing is right to extend our European footprint.’
