Care Progress Awarded National Cancer Institute SBIR Fast Track

BETHESDA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Care Progress, LLC announced it has been awarded a National Cancer Institute (NCI) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Fast Track Contract. The award will help fund the development of enabling patients, caregivers and clinicians to seamlessly coordinate care through a novel software platform to improve outcomes for oncology patients, enhance clinician workflow and reduce caregiver burden.

"This Fast Track award is a strong validation of our work to bolster care for oncology patients, providers and caregivers,” said Howard Isenstein, founder of Care Progress. “These funds enable us to accelerate development of our technology within a large and growing market."

The Fast Track award provides Care Progress with both Phase I and Phase II. Typically, companies need to apply for Phase II only after Phase I has been completed. The combined award will support a detailed development program including product design and validation, along with testing that will be performed in collaboration with world-class oncologists at Georgetown University Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, which has been collaborating with Care Progress since 2014.

The new technology the company is developing under this award will dovetail with CarePrompter, Care Progress’s award-winning nurse triage/patient engagement software. Care Progress was one of five finalists out of 160 global entries in the Astellas Oncology C3 Prize competition.
