California Healthcare Institute (CHI) Launches Podcast Highlighting Cardiovascular Disease Research in California
WHAT: In CHI’s most recent podcast series, Gollaher and Mercola discuss cardiovascular disease research; including regenerative techniques Mercola is testing in his laboratories at Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute to restore damaged heart tissue. They also discuss the funding environment for academic research and the challenges behind engaging student interest in science, math and engineering.
In California, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death. The burden of cardiovascular disease is experienced across the California population, although some groups experience the burden disproportionately. Of further concern, given the changing demographics in California, is that the risk of death from heart disease, stroke, and heart failure increases with age.
