bluebird bio Announces Closing of Over-Allotment Option in Public Offering

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- bluebird bio (Nasdaq: BLUE), a clinical-stage company committed to developing potentially transformative gene therapies for severe genetic diseases and T cell-based immunotherapies for cancer, today announced that it has issued an additional 277,109 shares of common stock at the public offering price of $185 per share, for total gross proceeds of approximately $51.3 million, pursuant to the partial exercise of the underwriters’ over-allotment option in connection with the company’s previously announced public offering of common stock. After giving effect to this exercise of the over-allotment option, the total number of shares sold by bluebird bio in the public offering was 3,520,353 and gross proceeds of the offering were approximately $651.3 million.

Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC, BofA Merrill Lynch, J.P. Morgan Securities LLC and Cowen acted as joint book-running managers of the offering.
