BIOTECHNICA Release: Encouraging Response to New Dedicated "Bioservices" Exhibition and Conference

Hannover, Germany. BIOTECHNICA, Europe's leading event for Biotechnology and Life Sciences, which takes place this year from 11-13 October, will feature the first dedicated “BioServices” platform, comprising an exhibition and conference program for service providers in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. From the outset the idea of providing a new marketplace for this sector met with a positive response. Jürgen Fürstenberg-Brock, director of international trade fairs at Deutsche Messe AG, Hannover, reported: “The current level of bookings shows that this offer has been very well received.” The platform will address the trend towards cooperation and outsourcing and creates ideal opportunities for businesses to make new contacts and secure orders.

Over 100 exhibitors from the service sector have already decided to take part in BIOTECHNICA. These companies act as external partners to biotech and pharmaceutical companies, providing specialist services in such areas as the further development of pharmaceutical agents, clinical and pre-clinical trialling and the manufacture of end products.

High proportion of foreign exhibitors

A full nine weeks before the event is due to open, the BioServices group pavilion located at the heart of the BioServices display area has already been expanded due to high demand. The high proportion of exhibitors from outside the host nation is particularly encouraging – with significant numbers coming from France, Scandinavia, Switzerland and Japan.

Due to the exceptional interest shown by French companies there will be a separate stand for service providers from France, in addition to the BioServices group pavilion. The individual stands of other service providers will be grouped around these two joint presentations. Other suppliers of bio-services will be dispersed across the entire BIOTECHNICA exhibition area like so many satellites. Further information about the event can be found at http://www.biotechnica.de/bioservices_e.

The accompanying conference on 11 and 12 October is aimed at international service providers as well as companies seeking R&D partners, scientists and other members of the research community. Four conference sessions will focus on areas of major interest such as biosimilars and personalized medicine, with presentations by guest speakers followed by discussion. Among those taking part are experts from Eli Lilly (Indianapolis), Boehringer Ingelheim, Sartorius (Göttingen) and the Medical University of Hannover.
