Biotech Veteran Wilcox To Become CEO Of Drug Discovery Company, Thrasos Inc.

Biotechnology veteran Harry Wilcox has stepped down as the chief financial officer of Exact Sciences Corp. to takeover the president and CEO positions at Thrasos Inc., a privately held drug discovery company. Wilcox also will assume a part-time role of senior vice president of corporate development overseeing Exact Science's "strategic corporate issues," the company said.

Exact Sciences, based in Marlborough, Mass., has tapped two internal executives to fill Wilcox's vacancies, which in addition to the CFO post included the roles of senior vice president and treasurer. Jeffrey Luber, the company's general counsel and secretary since 2002, will replace Wilcox as CFO and treasurer.

Charles Carelli Jr., Exact Sciences' controller and chief accounting officer since 2004, has since been promoted to vice president of finance.

Exact Sciences (Nasdaq: EXAS - News) applies genomics to develop screening technologies used to detect cancer. The company was founded in 1995.
