Published: May 10, 2012

BOSTON, May 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- BioSurplus today announced the appointment of Michelle Crandall as its Greater Boston Regional Business Development Manager. A 12-year veteran of the Boston area's life sciences community, she will launch the company's first local showroom and spearhead expansion efforts in the region. Many greater Boston life sciences companies already rely on BioSurplus' online services to maximize the value of their scientific instrument. The planned BioSurplus Boston showroom launch and hiring of Michelle demonstrate the company's commitment to delivering better and more services in the region. Crandall's first directive will be to seek opportunities to acquire, consign and/or auction lab equipment from working labs.

"BioSurplus is thrilled to welcome Michelle Crandall to lead our expansion in greater Boston," said Preston "Cinco" Plumb, BioSurplus' President and CEO. "Her deep roots in the New England life sciences community coupled with her extensive experience as a lab technician and researcher will be invaluable in helping serve our customer needs for buying and selling used lab equipment."

Crandall has a strong background in both life science and business development. She joined BioSurplus after a sales and business-development strategy role at Bainbridge International. Before that she managed customer accounts and programs at global pharmaceutical services provider PAREXEL. She also served as a research associate at Acceleron Pharma and held laboratory technician and program manager positions at Charles River Laboratories. She earned her MBA from Suffolk University and her B.S. in biology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
