American Water: Low-level contaminants and long-term exposure can be deadly

Environmental Laboratories' Safe Home® Test Kits accurately identify home water contaminants

MADISON, Ind., Sept. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Many US Citizens believe that contaminated drinking water is only a problem in developing regions across the globe. However, Americans should be aware of the potential health risks posed by the aging water infrastructure beneath their feet in cities across America. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), an estimated 240,000 water mains break each year in the United States due to poorly maintained and aging infrastructure. As the water infrastructure ages, the integrity of the distribution systems becomes more vulnerable to leakage and fracture. About 10% of the total water produced is lost due to leakage that causes back-siphoning; resulting in bacterial and heavy metal contamination of drinking water supplies. These contaminants can have drastic effects on adults, children, un-born babies, and pets. Scientist, Chris Myers, founder of Environmental Laboratories Inc, knew something needed to be done to empower each individual to know what's in their water, creating the new Safe Home® Test Kits.

Safe Home® Test Kits are one of the most comprehensive test kits for a wide range of contaminants in drinking water - (metals such as Lead, physical properties like Hardness, In-organics such as Nitrate and Organics like Pesticides). The kits come in a variety of options, ranging from testing for 1 contaminant all the way to 200 unique contaminants. Safe Home® offers two platforms of test kits: Do-It-Yourself Testing (the homeowner conducts the tests) and Laboratory Testing (Safe Home's EPA Certified Drinking Water Testing Lab conducts the tests). All Lab Test Kits are supported by an easy to read lab report emailed to the customer, after testing is completed.

"With the vital information provided by Safe Home® Test Kits, we empower the individual to become their family's drinking water expert. Home owners will have the information necessary, to make informed decisions and protect their families," says Mr. Chris Myers.
