Addiction Hope Announces Online Conference Focusing on New Research and Insights from Leading Experts in Addiction Recovery
REDMOND, Ore., /PRNewswire/ -- Addiction Hope hosts its second Virtual Conference, "From Dependence to Recovery: New Insights on Gaming Addiction, Opioid Abuse, and How to Find Freedom," Thursday, September 20, 2018. The day of presentations will feature world-class leaders in research and treatment from across the spectrum of addiction recovery expertise, including keynote speaker, Brian Cuban, Dr. Mark Gold, Dr. Patrick Carnes and Dr. Lloyd Sederer. Conference attendees will receive two continuing education credits, and learn about the latest developments in the treatment of opioid abuse, gaming and food addiction, and the use of narrative therapy in building resilience in the recovery process.
"We are in the midst of opioid overdose and opioid use disorder epidemics. These epidemics do not occur in a vacuum and we have seen corresponding and unexpected increases is despair and suicides…the whole person is often lost, but needs to be evaluated and treated," says conference presenter Dr. Mark Gold, regarding the urgency of education and reduced stigma for those pursuing addiction recovery. According to the Centers for Disease Control, "Drug overdoses killed about 72,000 Americans last year, a record number that reflects a rise of around 10 percent."
Presenter Dr. Lloyd Sederer emphasizes, "People use drugs and alcohol, and engage in a variety of compulsive, potentially damaging activities not because they are bad or weak, but because these behaviors serve them; not very well, but they deliver powerful and immediate relief from physical and psychic pain, or transport a person far from the grind of everyday life."
The Virtual Conference will address the crisis of drug abuse and other addictions and offer hope to battle stigma, offering resources and hope for those struggling. Presentations begin Thursday, September 20th at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, and conclude at 4:00 p.m. Registration is 30 dollars per person.
