First published more than 65 years ago, the Washington Manual ofMedical Therapeutics has been completely revamped and repackaged as an interactive digital experience powered by Inkling. Viewable through a browser or as a download to a tablet or smartphone, the new digital version includes the complete text with customized navigation and a rapid, index-based search capability.

Known as the leading reference on the wards, "The Manual" has been thoroughly updated to deliver an evidence-based presentation of current therapies in an engaging, but practical format, in both print and digital, and making it the preferred on-call reference for house staff, medical students, faculty and other healthcare professionals throughout the world.

The enhanced functionality gives a new generation of physicians an ability to quickly navigate and personalize the classic text. Users can link to relevant content directly from the text, to a newly created glossary, and to citations on PubMed and other related Internet articles. Users also can share notes with colleagues, highlight text for easier reference, insert electronic bookmarks and cut-and-paste.

New features include a streamlined formula that helps readers keep pace with the latest advances in the field. An enhanced table of contents allows for quick reference and a new chapter on toxicology prepares the user to respond effectively to any poisoning, overdose or exposure emergency. Decision support algorithms simplify clinical support to a functional concept.

"We continue with the virtue and dedication that has made the Washington Manual a success since it was first started," said series editor Thomas De Fer, M.D., Professor of Internal Medicine, Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis. "As the book now tops 1,000-pages, the new features and digital functionality provide a convenient way for physicians to get the most out of it and rediscover why it is such a trusted and valued resource."

Purchase of the print edition entitles the clinician to access the digital edition on the Inkling platform at no additional charge, allowing access to all of the interactive multimedia content using iPad® tablets and iPhones. Subscribers also can access the content online through a PC or Mac browser. Individuals interested in purchasing the digital edition alone may do so through Inkling. In addition, a digital edition for Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook is also available and can be purchased through those retailers.

Designed for students, residents, practitioners, nurses and advanced practitioners, the Washington Manual® of Medical Therapeutics, Thirty-Fourth Edition, combined digital/print package is available immediately for $71.99.
