Security Biometrics Subsidiary eMedRx Begins Enrolling Medicare Beneficiaries Into RxSavings Discount Drug Card Program

BALTIMORE and NEW YORK and DALLAS, June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Security Biometrics (BULLETIN BOARD: SBOM) subsidiary eMedRx(TM), a leader in providing solutions to reduce costs in health care delivery, announced that it has joined with an affiliate of Caremark Rx, Inc. http://www.caremark.com/ a pharmacy benefits industry leader, to enroll Medicare beneficiaries in RxSavings, the Medicare-endorsed discount drug card program. This new program is designed to help participants save money while ensuring greater patient protection and improving the safety of taking multiple prescriptions.

The RxSavings program offers cardholders a variety of choices and locations for filling their prescriptions. Enrollees in the RxSavings program are expected to save an average of more than 20 percent off normal retail prices on the most commonly prescribed brand and generic prescription medications at network retail pharmacies (and through mail and phone orders as well as the internet).

"We have established a leading brand name associated with quality and innovation among consumers," said Jeff Maynard, President and CEO of eMedRx(TM)"We are eager to enhance the RxSavings program's discounts through our safety benefits for Medicare beneficiaries. We see a natural fit for this program with our "safe and secure" products, such as our biometric signature prescribing system, and our enrollment, audit and access control systems."

The RxSavings drug utilization review system will conduct safety checks for cardholders. The drug utilization review process starts when a pharmacist enters a prescription into the pharmacy's computer system. It is then relayed to the RxSavings system to identify the patient and verify price and payment terms. At the same time, the system reviews the patient's active prescription history for potential therapeutic conflicts; the database includes every drug the patient has filled at any pharmacy using the card.

The annual enrollment fee for RxSavings is $29.95. Medicare eMedRx(TM). beneficiaries can enroll or obtain more information by e-mailing to medicare@emedrx.com or by calling 1-800-MEDICARE.
