Plexon And Triangle BioSystems Announce Agreement To Market World's First VLSI, High-Channel Count Headset For Neuroscience Research

DALLAS, and RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Plexon Inc., a global provider of neuroengineering research systems, today announced an agreement with Triangle BioSystems, Inc. (TBSI), to market the world's first VLSI integrated circuit, high-channel-count neural headset. The headset is about the size of a U.S. Dime, measuring 3mm x 14 mm x 20 mm, and is used to amplify and filter signals received from electrodes implanted in the brain and nervous system.

Under the terms of the exclusive agreement, Plexon will market the headsets designed by Triangle BioSystems as part of its extensive product line of neuroscience data acquisition hardware and analysis software. The new product will also be showcased at Plexon's booth (#834-836) at the 33rd Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuroscience in New Orleans November 9-12.

"The new VLSI headsets are smaller and lighter than any other commercial units," said Harvey Wiggins, President of Plexon. "This agreement expands our product offerings to include higher density and higher channel count instrumentation."

The introduction of the VLSI, high-channel count headset, which is available with 16 or 32 analog channels, enables neuroscientists to record from very high-density microelectrode arrays. An additional feature of the headset is bandpass filtering that allows researchers to isolate the neural signals being studied.
