MedCath Corporation Promotes Executives

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MedCath Corporation , a healthcare provider focused on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease, announced the promotion of two of its top executives.

Charles R. Slaton, who had been Executive Vice President, was named President. He retains his position as Chief Operating Officer. Slaton joined MedCath Oct. 15, 2003, about one month after John T. Casey became MedCath's Chief Executive Officer. Before joining MedCath, Slaton was a senior manager for nine years at Tenet Healthcare, with financial and operational responsibilities for 15 acute and rehabilitation hospitals in Texas.

Thomas K. Hearn III, who has been President, Diagnostic Division, was given the additional position of Chief Development Officer for the company. Hearn joined MedCath in November 1995. Before joining MedCath, he served as president of Decision Support Systems, Inc., a healthcare software and consulting firm, and administrator of the Carolinas' Heart Institute.
