"It is important for young women who aspire to become powerful leaders to have role models to emulate," says Dr. Alice Jacobs. "I am honored to receive this distinction along with other great women."
Under the leadership of Dr. Jacobs, IMDx designs, develops, and manufactures clinically relevant molecular diagnostics for rapid and accurate detection of diseases. In 2011, IMDx released two CE-marked diagnostic kits, which are being distributed globally by Abbott, targeting two of the most threatening healthcare-associated infections, Clostridium difficile, and vancomycin-resistant enterococci. Diagnostic tests for Group B streptococcus and Influenza A/B and RSV are scheduled to obtain CE-marking and launch in the spring of 2012. The IMDx pipeline also includes additional assays targeting oncology, human genetics and companion diagnostics.
IMDx employs experts from diverse backgrounds including financial, legal, scientific, and medical, and is run in a unique manner such that all are involved in product development from initial concept stages to commercialization. Dr. Jacobs works hard to ensure the highest quality products are produced at IMDx and accurately reflect the needs of the global medical community. Through the creation of IMDx, Dr. Jacobs is achieving her goal of improving the relationship between patients, physicians and diagnostics.
