American HealthChoice Introduces Breakthrough Medical Technology For Treating Back Pain At San Antonio

FLOWER MOUND, Texas, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American HealthChoice, Inc. , a medical services company with 40 owned and affiliated medical clinics in Texas and Tennessee, (http://www.americanhealthchoice.com), announced today the revolutionary DRX9000 Spinal Decompression System has been installed at its Atlas Sports Injury & Rehabilitation Clinic in NW San Antonio on Bandera Road.

The clinic has been owned by American HealthChoice for more than 10 years and is its largest facility in San Antonio. The clinic director is Dr. Joe Nelson, who has practiced for 18 years and is well known in the San Antonio medical community.

The DRX system is used to correct problems with herniated discs, degenerative disc disease and sciatica, among other back problems. DRX creates a negative pressure, or vacuum, inside the discs, retracting bulging material back into the disc. It also increases blood flow, bringing in fluids and nutrients, calming nerves and promoting rehydration and repair. Information about DRX and its use at Atlas is available at http://www.sanantoniodrx.com .

"Back pain is the costliest problem in health care today," said Dr. J.W. Stucki, American HealthChoice Chairman and CEO. "Clinical studies indicate an 86 percent success rate with DRX and we have found that the majority of patients are experiencing significant pain relief after the first few visits."

"We see patients with these problems every day and we are delighted to now have a system that is so effective at creating an environment for healing patients with back pain," Dr. Nelson said. "This system can eliminate the need for expensive, traumatic and often unsuccessful surgery."
