Health Language, Inc. to Showcase Industry-Leading Medical Terminology Solutions at Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society 2011 Conference
DENVER, CO--(Marketwire - February 17, 2011) -
Health Language, Inc.
The HLI solutions enable hospitals and health systems to meet Stage 1 Meaningful Use measures to quality for incentives under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, exchange patient data seamlessly within and outside their enterprise, ease the transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10, accelerate the adoption of electronic health records, and enhance coding accuracy. They include:
- LEAP I-10 (Language Engine Access Portal I-10): LEAP I-10 is a web-based, user-friendly, affordable mapping tool that makes it easier for hospitals and payers to prepare for, identify and address the financial, technology and operational impact of transitioning from ICD-9 to ICD-10. LEAP I-10 provides an unequalled ability to create real-world simulations using actual data from providers and payers to develop organization-specific, actionable intelligence. Based on the results of the initial GEMs mapping, custom maps that add or delete ICD-10 codes can be developed easily and tested to evaluate and address revenue neutrality and mitigate risk.
- Provider Friendly Terminology (PFT): Health Language has developed the industry's most comprehensive, flexible and functional PFT code set and enabling tools. Automatically mapping these terms to standardized medical terminologies and billing classifications facilitates health information exchange, compliance with Meaningful Use requirements such as problem list creation, and enhances the efficiency of billing and other administrative functions. Allowing physicians, nurses and other clinicians to continue to document care and search for patient data using their preferred clinical terms and descriptions simplifies the transition to an EHR. For example, the terms AF or AFIB can be entered for a diagnosis of atrial fibrillation, one of the most common abnormal heart rhythms.
- LEAP (Language Engine Access Portal): LEAP incorporates intuitive navigation and industry-leading tools to simplify the mapping, translation and standardization of medical terminologies and code sets. This breakthrough, web-based technology offers a new level of user friendliness and flexibility that enables a hospital, physician's practice or healthcare information technology (HIT) vendor to become fully operational on LEAP within an hour. This means that most routine medical terminology management functions no longer require a highly skilled medical terminologist -- a major advantage that allows facilities to easily and quickly create, select, update, and manage medical and administrative terminologies.
All three solutions are based on HLI's Language Engine® (LE®), the company's flagship software platform that has been in production for more than a decade throughout the world. LE provides enterprise terminology management services such as standard and custom mapping, modeling, analysis and local content management for more than 100 terminologies including ICD-9 CM, ICD-10 CM, SNOMED, LOINC and RxNorm.
"There is growing recognition that achieving true data interoperability to enhance clinical, operational and business objectives is becoming essential," stated HLI CEO George Schwend. "There is a huge unmet need for affordable, powerful solutions like HLI's LEAP that enable healthcare providers to take control of some of the mapping, modeling, translation and data standardization projects that can yield immediate benefits and position them for long-term success. We are leveraging our proven technology to develop cost-effective products that make it much easier to exchange information from disparate systems. We are proud to facilitate nationwide semantic interoperability that will drive quality initiatives and coordinated, collaborative care."
