Study Finds Chicken Pox Vaccine Effective Overall

Chicken pox vaccine loses a substantial amount of its effectiveness in the first year after it is administered but overall remains very protective up to eight years, a study said on Tuesday. The vaccine, which uses a live but weakened virus, was developed in 1974 and has been approved in the United States since 1995. It is recommended for healthy children at 12 to 18 months.
