Drug R&D Boom Lead Massachusetts Biotech Jobs to Hit an All-Time High

Massachusetts is in the midst of a drug research and development boom — and industry trade group MassBio has the jobs numbers and pipeline data to prove it.

MassBio released its annual “snapshot” report on Tuesday outlining some of the major trends that are shaping the local biopharma sector. One of those is continued employment growth: according to the report, the total number of biopharma workers in Massachusetts rose by nearly 5 percent in 2016, to 66,053, marking at least the 10th consecutive year of growth.
