Bush Creates Health Information Technology Post

President Bush on Tuesday created a new position to coordinate bar codes on drug bottles, paperless medical records and other high-tech government health initiatives. The move comes amid a spate of new projects to bring the health-care industry into the 21st century, including the use of radio-frequency identification tags to track prescription medicines and thwart counterfeiters.
