RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Aug. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Triangle Research Labs, LLC and Biopredic International have completed an agreement for TRL to distribute the No-Spin HepaRG cells in North America. The No-Spin HepaRG represent an important improvement over the original cryopreserved HepaRG cells introduced three years ago for ADMET analyses. The HepaRG are renewable and reproducible hepatic cells derived from a single donor which possess the unique capabilities of being grown to increase their population, but can also be differentiated into fully-functional, adult phenotype hepatic cells. The cells have been the subject of dozens of recent scientific papers and posters, demonstrating their suitability for all in-vitro analyses for which the more variable and expensive cryopreserved primary human hepatocytes have been used.
The No-Spin HepaRG utilize a proprietary cryopreservation process developed by Biopredic that leverages the consistency and predictability of HepaRG responses and their post-thaw viability (typically 93-98%) with novel techniques developed by Biopredic scientists. All other forms of cryopreserved hepatocytes require thawing, suspension, centrifugation, resuspension, and counting (to account for variability introduced) steps; the No-Spin HepaRG simply need to be thawed and then they are ready for use. Not only will this benefit high-volume labs which now undertake many laborious and expensive steps to use hepatocytes, but all labs will gain from this format which reduces the risk of errors or variability.
