Dectris Ltd. Introduces Three New Performance Classes Of Hybrid Photon Counting X-Ray Detectors

(Baden (CH), 31.07.2014) DECTRIS introduces three new performance classes; the PILATUS3 R, S, and X series, based on the successful PILATUS3 Hybrid Photon Counting technology. The new detectors extend DECTRIS' product portfolio and offer optimal performance for a wide range of X-ray applications and users.

The PILATUS3 S and X series are aimed at synchrotron applications, whereas the PILATUS3 R series brings all advantages of Hybrid Photon Counting technology to the laboratory. The entire set of features enabling best possible data quality is common to all PILATUS3 detectors: DECTRIS instant retrigger technology for unsurpassed count rates and accurate count rate correction; absence of readout noise and dark current; direct detection of X-rays for a sharpest possible point-spread function.

PILATUS3 R Laboratory Series

The PILATUS3 R series brings all of the revolutionary advantages of Hybrid Photon Counting technology from the synchrotron to the laboratory. As an evolution of the previous generation PILATUS laboratory series, PILATUS3 R adds next generation technology to the long list of unique advantages of our laboratory detectors: DECTRIS instant retrigger technology enables substantially enhanced count rates and highly accurate count rate corrections, for example in small molecule crystallography. Furthermore, the series of laboratory X-ray detectors is extended by the PILATUS3 R 1M. Its active area of 169 by 179 millimeters rivals that of image plate or large CCD detectors. The PILATUS3 R 1M outperfoms other types of laboratory X-ray detectors with its short readout time, high frame rates and absence of readout noise as well as dark current.

PILATUS3 S and X Synchrotron Series

X-ray detectors of the PILATUS3 S and X series meet the requirements of both advanced synchrotron instruments and cutting edge beamlines. With ample performance for any standard application, the PILATUS3 S series makes Hybrid Photon Counting technology accessible to virtually any synchrotron beamline and budget. A PILATUS3 S detector is the optimal choice for scientists looking for excellent data from a fast detector without requiring ultimate frame rates.

The PILATUS3 X series excels with frame rates up to 500 Hz and sub-millisecond readout time, enabling novel experimental strategies. Region of interest readout, a new feature of the PILATUS3 X series enables advantageous use of highest frame rates with even the largest models.
