Launch of national effort streamlines CRO and CMO search and evaluation for industry
June 26, 2014 (CAMBRIDGE, MA & SAN DIEGO, CA) – MassBio’s successful CRO CMO Gateway, an online portal launched in 2013 to connect contract services buyers and sellers, is growing its reach with the launch of the new BIO BizLink, announced at the BIO International Convention yesterday.
The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) announced the launch of BIO BizLink, an online service that helps biotech or pharma companies seeking to outsource research or manufacturing functions save time and administration costs to find highly qualified service providers.
“We have been thrilled to see the Gateway connect buyers and sellers in research,” said Robert K. Coughlin, President & CEO of MassBio, which represents more than 620 companies on both sides of the buyer and seller equation. “BIO BizLink will drive even more traffic to take a look at the unparalleled contract capacity we have throughout Massachusetts.”
Both the MassBio Gateway and BIO BizLink are powered by Cambridge, MA-based OnDeckBiotech. The Gateway and BIO BizLink are integrated so that company profiles and information already in the Gateway will also appear as visitors search BIO BizLink for service providers.
“BIO BizLink fills a critical need for today’s life sciences industry,” said Jim Greenwood, President & CEO of BIO. “This resource will allow biotech and pharma companies to save valuable time and resources by quickly and easily identifying qualified vendors for upcoming projects.”
On both the MassBio Gateway and BIO BizLink, vendors maintain a no-cost company profile, including an overview of services, reviews provided by past clients, introductions to key personnel and background documents such as brochures and facility tours. Biotech and pharma companies enjoy free access to this information about the vendor community, as well as complementary tools and resources to help accelerate the development process while protecting their intellectual property.
BIO BizLink was developed and launched as a cooperative effort by BIO, BIO state and regional affiliates and OnDeckBiotech. MassBio members continue to retain access to discounts on transaction fees through the site. Current affiliates include:
• Colorado Bioscience Association
• Delaware Bio
• Georgia Bio
• Indiana Health Industry Forum
• Montana Bioscience Alliance
• Virginia Bio
