A recent Johnson & Johnson survey shows that parents have a tremendous impact when it comes to instilling caring values in their children. These insights led to a social exercise conducted by Johnson & Johnson to see the power of care through the eyes of children, and is revealing the results with a new online video
titled "Once Upon a Care."
Working with renowned children's book author Patricia Lakin, Johnson & Johnson visited a New York City elementary school to talk to children about their views on caring. Lakin then worked with illustrators to transform the children's stories into books, which the children read to their parents, providing a unique glimpse into how a parent's actions can positively impact how their children see the world and engage in acts of care. The entire process was filmed and turned into an online video that demonstrates that the care you give your children, they will give back to the world.
While setting a positive example for younger generations is important to a majority of Americans (90 percent) that took part in the Johnson & Johnson survey, teaching care to children can be challenging. Parents today (79 percent) say a primary reason they are caring themselves is because they want to set a positive example for their children, but a majority of moms (55 percent) and dads (53 percent) feel that the demands of their children's busy schedules pose a challenge when it comes to demonstrating care within the community. Moreover, parents' own hectic schedules are the number one reason (62 percent) they don't participate in caring acts with their children, as often as they should.
