3/18/2014 8:50:20 AM
March 18, 2014 -- GPMAW lite is a free online protein bioinformatics tool provided by Alphalyse. GPMAW lite facilitates basic calculations on any protein amino acid sequence. The calculations include protein molecular weight and isoelectric point, molar absorption and extinction coefficient, amino acid composition and in-silico protease digested peptides. Amino acid sequences can be retrieved easily for any known protein from the NCBI and UniProt protein sequence databases, or even copied from other programs.
“With GPMAW lite scientists can now access a user friendly bioinformatics tool. It’s online, easily accessible, and free of charge”, says Thomas Kofoed, CEO at Alphalyse. “It is our hope, that GPMAW lite will ease the everyday work of leading researchers within the pharmaceutical and biotech industries as well as academic scientists globally”.
GPMAW lite has been developed by Alphalyse in collaboration with Peter Højrup, who has developed the full GPMAW program. Peter Højrup is a professor at Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark. The GPMAW program was first launched in 1987 based on the extensive experience within the Protein Research Group at the University of Southern Denmark, and has become a valuable piece of software for the molecular biologist, mass spectrometrist or biochemist in need of analyzing protein and peptide sequences.
