COLUMBUS, Ohio (March 12, 2014) – METTLER TOLEDO is pleased to announce the introduction of Good Electrochemistry Practice™, GEP™. GEP is the 5th guideline in the Good Measuring Practices program of METTLER TOLEDO after GWP (Good Weighing Practice), GTP (Good Titration Practice), GPP (Good Pipetting Practice) and GDRP (Good Density and Refractometry Practice).

Eliminate Risks – Reduce Running Costs
Measuring pH is a routine analysis in many laboratories, but many things can go wrong in every day practice. The same applies to conductivity, ion concentration, dissolved oxygen and redox measurements. METTLER TOLEDO aims to assist customers in reducing errors, getting accurate results quickly and enhancing their overall lab performance. At the same time significant running cost reduction can be achieved. With the Risk Check, a tool for analyzing possible sources of error which in turn contribute to measurement uncertainty, major risks can easily be determined and weighted.

Easy Five-Step Approach to Reach Best Practice
Good Electrochemistry Practice, GEP, is about guiding METTLER TOLEDO’s customers through every step of the product lifecycle. The beginning is as important as the routine operation later on; it is important to know who is measuring what, where and how often, to be able to select the most appropriate products. This has to be followed by a correct installation and qualification of the equipment as well as regular user qualification to guarantee good results.

The five steps are as follows:
1. Evaluation of the main aspects that may have an influence on the choice of an electrochemical system.
2. Selection of optimal measuring equipment based on the evaluation above. The Sensor Product Guide, which can be found on www.electrodes.net is a tool that has been developed to assist when selecting sensors.
3. The installation of the system too poses risks and should either be done by carefully following the installation checklist or professionally by a service technician.
4. Qualification—only properly qualified personnel and qualified equipment guarantee good results.
5. Routine operation provides the opportunity to apply all the work flows determined to be optimal for the electrochemical system. This final step also requires the regular servicing of instruments and verification of the methods as a form of continual fine tuning.

METTLER TOLEDO Increases Any Lab’s Performance – in Any Industry
With the history of INGOLD and the high focus METTLER TOLEDO has on the pH business, the competence is provided to warrant safe results. The supporting tools have been created over many years and with the customers’ applications in mind. Compliance is guaranteed, uptime is increased and expertise is enhanced. METTLER TOLEDO’s service team can be contacted any time for on-site trainings or web-based seminars. This will provide a higher degree of qualification of the staff members, contributing to a higher performing company.
