A Food and Drug Administration panel could soon help determine the fate of billions of dollars in household-name pain drugs such as Advil and Aleve over the question of which ones pose a greater cardiac risk. An advisory committee of medical experts is expected to spend two days this week reaching a recommendation on whether the drug naproxen, sold as Aleve by Bayer AG BAYN.XE +0.32% , may carry little to no heart danger, giving it a possible boost over other anti-inflammatory drugs. Aleve and other medicines, such as the prescription drug Celebrex and ibuprofen, sold under the brands Advil and Motrin and in generic versions, are used by millions of people for joint pain, arthritis and a range of aches and injuries.
