Vitamin D Pills Will Not Make You Healthier, Lancet Reveals

There is little evidence to suggest that healthy people benefit from taking vitamin D supplements, BBC News reported. In a study published in the Lancet, researchers carried out a meta-analysis of 100 trials analyzing the effects of vitamin D supplementation in the adult population . Overall, the researchers found that vitamin D supplements failed to significantly reduce the risk of death, heart disease, cancer and stroke among study participants. Among both healthy and hospitalized patients, Vitamin D supplements also failed to noticeably reduce the risk of hip fractures.
