CERAM Release: The Effects Of Particle Size Distribution On The Properties Of Medical Materials

December 02, 2013 -- Ceram, the international materials technology company, has published a new white paper for the medical devices industry, ‘The Effects of Particle Size Distribution on the Properties of Medical Materials’.

The white paper discusses how the shape and size of powder particles can have a great impact on the physical and chemical properties of the final product. Being able to analyse the size distribution and shape of the particles can also give useful information concerning the processes they go through in manufacturing and this analysis can help both to make the processes more efficient and to pinpoint the root causes of failure analysis.

Matthew Cantelo, Development Scientist, Healthcare, who authored the white paper says:

Determining powder particle size, shape and distribution is vital in the medical devices sector, not only to improve processing efficiencies and to help solve failures quickly but also to develop the products and technologies of the future.”

The white paper details laser diffraction, discussing this well-known method for measuring particle size distribution (PSD) and highlighting its importance for the sector.
