X-Chem Spinoff Launches, Raises $8.5 Million

A new company launched last year from the same headquarters as Waltham, Mass.-based X-Chem Pharmaceuticals has raised $8.5 million in equity in conjunction with several executives from a North Carolina-based contract research organization, according to federal filings. The company, which filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission under the name X-Rx Inc., is not incorporated in the state of Massachusetts, according to the Secretary of State’s records, but lists its address as 100 Beaver St., Waltham. Richard Wagner, co-founder and president of X-Chem, who is also listed as an executive at X-Rx, did not return an email and phone message on Wednesday.
