SAN FRANCISCO, CA. January 10, 2008 - BioSpace, the leading online source of life science information and the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council (MBC) unveiled this morning the ninth edition of the Genetown™ Hotbed Campaign.

The initiative, first launched in 1993, features promotional and functional web components to work in conjunction with the economic and workforce development initiatives of the dynamic biopharmaceutical industry in Massachusetts. The much anticipated 2008 Genetown Hotbed Map, available for download at http://www.biospace.com/hotbed_map.aspx?ContentEntityID=933, displays the logos and building pictures of participating companies. Various print collateral pieces are distributed to life science professionals at regional and international events throughout the year.

Other organizations featured on the map include Abbott, Alkermes, MGI PHARMA, i3 Research, Parexel, Merck, Millennium Pharmaceuticals and Novartis, along with over 60 other participants, research institutes, colleges and universities. Detailed online profiles of all participating organizations include contact information, career opportunities, financial updates and company history, and can be found through the Genetown Homepage, http://www.biospace.com/hotbed.aspx?RegionID=16, which also maintains critical daily biopharmaceutical industry news and information from the region.

“BioSpace is proud to promote the Massachusetts bioscience community through our annual Genetown Hotbed Campaign,” said Wes Crews, CEO of BioSpace. “With the support and participation of MBC and our sponsors, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Wyeth Biotech, the 2008 Genetown Hotbed Map remains a strong representation of this thriving biotech region.”
