CardioTech International, Inc. (CTE) Launches Web-based Shopping Cart For Wound Dressings
4/19/2004

WILMINGTON, Mass., April 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CardioTech International, Inc., Inc., today announced that it's wholly-owned subsidiary, DermaPhylyx, Inc., has launched a new shopping cart system for its entire line of wound dressings. Customers can now easily order DermaPhylyx's products online.

DermaPhylyx, Inc. markets a line of advanced care wound dressings, which include HydroMed(TM), AlgiMed(TM), and Blist-Rx(TM). HydroMed(TM) is a borderless hydrogel sheet meant for use on lightly exudating wounds. AlgiMed(TM) is a calcium alginate dressing intended for use on bleeding wounds. Blist-Rx(TM), the latest product introduced by DermaPhylyx, is breathable polyurethane foam dressing intended for use by sports enthusiasts to prevent blisters.

Dr. Michael Szycher, CEO and Chairman of CTE, stated: "The launch of the Web-based shopping cart is another important step in increasing exposure and sales for our lineup of wound-dressings. In addition, we have laid a strong foundation for future sales with our other marketing venues. We are currently recruiting independent representatives on three Continents."

The market for CardioTech's wound dressing technologies is estimated at $600 million annually. The Dermaphylyx sales force has placed wound dressing samples with 200 dermatologists in the United States. Dermaphylyx has also distributed wound dressings to over 35 international distributors, laying the foundation for future sales. Dermaphylyx is currently awaiting national approval from regulatory agencies in South America, Asia, and Europe so that distributors can begin accepting orders.

To place an order for any of DermaPhylyx's products online, customers may access DermaPhylyx's website (http://www.dermaphylyx.com/), and then click on the product of their choice. In the product page, customers click on the "order" icon and are then brought to the shopping cart where they can enter the quantities wanted. At the bottom of the page, customers click "add to cart" and are brought back to the product page. At that point, customers can either select another of DermaPhylyx's products, or check out.

To check out, customers can either view their cart, or simply click "check out" from any of the product pages, and they will be automatically brought to the shopping cart page where they can review items checked for purchase. Customers can either edit any quantities, or click "Checkout Now". Customers are then brought to the checkout page where easy step-by-step instructions for billing are located. Once the order is placed, customers will be automatically taken to the order confirmation page, where they can view their order content. Customers will also receive an order confirmation via e-mail. Once the order is received, the products should arrive in about three business days. CardioTech International, Inc. maintains operations in Woburn, Massachusetts, Plymouth, Minnesota and Rancho Santa Margarita, California. CardioTech develops, produces and markets differentiated medical devices. Revenue sources include devices used in cardiopulmonary bypass (heart-lung), and OEM products manufactured for Fortune 100 companies. CardioTech's wound dressings address a combined $600 million annual market. CardioTech believes it is the only company in the world developing a synthetic coronary artery bypass graft that addresses a potential market of $1.5 billion annually. Additionally, CardioTech has partnered with Implant Sciences and CorNova to develop a drug- eluting stent that addresses a $1 billion market.
