Dr. Weiner has been associated with the San Francisco VA/UCSF since 1980. As Director of the Center for Imaging of Neurodegenerative Diseases, he is the Principle Investigator of the NIA funded $70 million Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative, as well as a Professor of Radiology, Medicine, Psychiatry, and Neurology at UCSF with two research MRIS.

Dr. Weiner is a specialist in Alzheimer’s Disease-related research. He has published over 400 papers and his research grants include funded studies of Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia, gulf war illness, posttraumatic stress disorder, HIV, and other neurodegenerative diseases. Dr. Weiner received his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, NY, and completed his internship at Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, NY.

ARFAC’s goal is to provide sufficient supplemental funding to our annually selected beneficiaries to enable them to make significant increases in the staffing and funding of their ongoing Alzheimer’s research programs. ARFAC will hold its inaugural fundraising event: The Alzheimer’s Gala: An Evening for the Mind, February 6, 2009, at the historic Ferry Building in San Francisco.
