Conventus Lands $4.5 Million in Capital

Med-tech firm Conventus Orthopaedics Inc. has closed on $4.5 million in financing, according to a regulatory filing.

The Maple Grove-based company developed a device, called the Conventus DRS implant, that treats wrist fractures. A surgeon inserts the device through a small incision in the arm. The product then expands from inside the patient’s bone, stabilizing the fracture.

Conventus’ technology serves as an alternative to the metal plates and screws that surgeons historically have used to repair wrist fractures. Conventus said in a recent news release that its approach can reduce patients’ “surgical trauma” by up to 70 percent compared to ...
