BASF will invest $33 million to its Research Triangle Park, North Carolina facilities, a measure to support the company’s biotechnology and insect control research after it shuttered its genetically modified plant business in Germany. The project will add another 80,000 sq. ft. to its laboratory and greenhouse facilities to support research efforts. The site currently employs approximately 780 people and occupies 400,000 sq. ft. This is the first in a series of investments that the Agricultural Solutions segment will make in 2012 to strengthen its global R&D platforms in line with BASF’s new “We create chemistry” strategy.
