June 8, 2006 – The FDA approved Gardasil, the human papillomavirus vaccine from Merck; Merck was also given priority review for Zolinza, a lymphoma drug; TorreyPines will execute a reverse merger with troubled Axonyx; Cortex settled with the FDA on a plan to remove the clinical hold on alertness drug Ampakine; Hollis-Eden received an FDA go-ahead to move its Neumune antibiotic into Phase I/II trials; Satraplatin from GPC Biotech and Pharmion passed an interim review in its Phase III trial; and Renovis will release data from a Phase III trial of its stroke drug in late 2006.
