IntraPace, Inc. Announces Chuck Brynelsen As New CEO

MENLO PARK, Calif., July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- IntraPace, Inc. announced today that Chuck Brynelsen has joined the company as President and Chief Executive Officer after a 24-year career at medical device maker Medtronic, where he served in general management positions in a variety of business units.

Immediately prior to joining IntraPace, Mr. Brynelsen was Vice President and General Manager of Medtronic's Cardiac Surgery Technologies business. Previous positions include Vice President and General Manager of Medtronic Perfusion Systems, Vice President and President Medtronic Asia Pacific, and Vice President Corporate Marketing.

Dr. Bruce Robertson, Managing Director at Toucan Capital and IntraPace Director stated, "During his long tenure at Medtronic, Chuck gained extensive experience in the application of electrical stimulation therapy for treating numerous cardiac and neurological diseases, experience that will be useful in the application of stimulation therapy to the problem of obesity." Mr. Brynelsen spent the early years of his career at Medtronic in the Cardiac Rhythm Management business participating in the introduction of dual chamber pacemakers, rate responsive pacemakers, implantable defibrillators, and bi-ventricular pacemakers.

He was instrumental in Medtronic's decision to become a founding member of the Global Healthcare Exchange and served as the Medtronic member of its Board of Directors. While in Japan, he worked closely with AdvaMed, the medical technology association representing manufacturers of medical devices, diagnostic products and medical information systems, as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Medical Devices of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan.

Mr. Brynelsen earned his BA degree from Bradley University and MBA degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
