QTL Biosystems, LLC And United First Responders To Manufacture Handheld Biosensor In Pennsylvania

SANTA FE, N.M., May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- QTL Biosystems, LLC announced today an agreement for United First Responders LLC, of Fayette County, Pennsylvania to manufacture QTL's handheld sensor to detect anthrax, ricin, and other potential bioterrorism pathogens. The system is designed for use by first responders, hospital triage personnel and military users. The rechargeable battery-powered handheld instrument and cartridges are designed for field use by users in full biohazard gear.

United First Responders is setting up manufacturing in North Union Township, Pennsylvania, in a Keystone Opportunity Zone. United First Responders will work closely with QTL during the next six months to manufacture prototype and pre-production units to establish high-quality production processes. United First Responders expects to begin manufacturing in Q4 2004.
