BEDFORD, Mass., Nov. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hologic, Inc. , a leading provider of specialized medical imaging equipment for women's health, today announced the signing of a sales agreement with Mammography Reporting Systems, Inc. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Mammography Reporting System, Inc. (MRS) is a leading provider of computerized systems for collecting, reporting, tracking and analyzing breast-imaging information. Under the terms of the agreement, Hologic and MRS will work cooperatively to offer the MRS portfolio of products to healthcare facilities currently using or purchasing Hologic's line of screen-film and digital mammography systems.
The MRS Mammography Reporting System is a cost-effective tool for improving operational efficiency and allowing facilities that perform mammography and other breast-related procedures to meet the requirements of the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA). The system generates radiologist exam reports and automatically selects lay-language patient result letters. It also tracks problem cases, generates follow-up letters and provides medical audit and practice management statistical reports. MRS systems are adaptable to a variety of mammography environments and workflow processes.
"The powerful tracking and reporting systems from MRS have a proven track record of increasing efficiencies for mammography professionals and aiding in the delivery of the highest quality care," said Jack Cumming, Hologic's Chairman and CEO. "Enhanced workflow has become increasingly important to busy facilities facing cost constraints due to reimbursement inadequacies. The MRS technology ideally complements Hologic's mammography and image management solutions. Our ability to offer these products should have a positive impact on the early and more efficient detection of breast cancer. We are very pleased to have the opportunity to work with MRS in this endeavor."
Hologic's product offerings include the Lorad Selenia(TM), the industry's first full-field digital mammography system using direct capture technology, the M-IV and Affinity Series of screen-film mammography systems, and a customized ultrasound system optimized for women's imaging and manufactured by Aloka Company, Ltd. The company also provides both upright and prone stereotactic breast biopsy systems. In addition, recent distribution agreements with R2 Technology and Confirma allow Hologic to offer a range of Computer Aided Detection (CAD) product offerings. Hologic and MRS have also worked together in the past to customize MRS software interfaces to provide seamless functionality with the Lorad Selenia system.
"MRS currently supports more than 2,000 facilities worldwide and is committed to providing high quality, state-of-the-art computerized systems for the healthcare industry," commented Stan Sieberg, President of Mammography Reporting System, Inc. "Our partnership with Hologic will facilitate access to their customer base and enable hospitals and clinics to improve their breast cancer detection by enhancing the workflow process."
