LINCOLN, Neb., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- LI-COR(R) Biosciences in partnership with Euthanex Corporation announces the addition of an anesthesia system to LI-COR's small animal imaging platforms. The standard anesthesia system includes all the hardware components required to connect to the Pearl Imager(TM) or Odyssey(R) MousePOD(TM). The anesthesia system, developed by veterinarians, is simple to operate, works safely with mice in a laboratory environment, and accommodates up to four breathing units and an induction chamber. It is compact, portable, user-friendly and safe for animals and personnel.
LI-COR offers two platforms for in vivo small animal imaging. The systems are used in conjunction with LI-COR IRDye(R) Infrared Dyes that are optimized for NIR imaging at 700 and 800nm.
The Pearl(TM) Imager is designed and optimized for animal imaging. Load a mouse in its unique imaging drawer, push the close button, and in 30 seconds properly exposed, multi-color images are acquired on the first attempt. The Pearl has an inlet and outlet port for the gas anesthesia system, a rotometer to control flow rate, and a charcoal filter to remove isoflurane from the exhaust stream.
The Odyssey MousePOD Imaging Accessory fits over the standard Odyssey Infrared System scanning surface for in vivo imaging of up to three mice. Longitudinal studies are facilitated by the Odyssey MousePOD's temperature regulation and easy connection to the gas anesthesia system.
