Your Opportunity

Intarcia Therapeutics is seeking a Utility Technician to operate, inspect, and maintain all HVAC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems at the Hayward facilities. Assures that equipment and systems are being maintained in an energy efficient, safe manner and that down time is reduced to a minimum by anticipation of necessary repairs. Complete, accurate, legible, and contemporaneous record keeping is a must and candidates with the ability to leverage past systems experience to benefit and improve equipment and systems performance are highly sought after for this role. May perform inspections and repairs to facilities including walls and flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, etc. Experience with HVAC, building automation systems (BAS), clean dry air (CDA), chilled water, cooling water, heating hot water, nitrogen, power distribution, RODI water, steam, clean steam, Water for Injection (WFI), and wastewater and exhaust treatment systems is required.

The role is within the manufacturing organization and reports to the Director of Facilities Maintenance & Calibration, and will support audits and inspections by representing the services and operations of utility systems supported.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Executes utility maintenance activities in accordance with Intarcia policies and procedures including the coordination of activities with a minimum disruption of facilities services, performing preventative and corrective maintenance tasks, ordering parts and equipment required for repair, maintenance, and installation of new or legacy equipment, and supports parts inventory maintenance.
•Responsible for assisting utility engineers with protecting and improving the value of assets and ensuring that engineering systems continue to perform their intended function.
•Performs facility maintenance with minimal disruption and followed by adequate clean up, including but not limited to carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, mill wright, and machinist functions.
•Oversees maintenance work performed by outside contractors and/or more junior staff, championing a conscientious attitude toward the quality of work.
•Perform daily rounds and document readings on equipment logs and checklists.
• Familiar with technical systems documentation (P&IDs, URS, FS, FAT/SAT, Commissioning, IOQs, SOPs, data sheets, material and equipment specifications, etc.) and support engineering team members in their execution and development.
• Supports the proper documentation of utilities with appropriate CMMS data, including spares and task lists.
• Supports utilities technical investigations, CAPAs, and change controls.
• Support EHS and QA initiatives to ensure compliance with all government regulations, site standards, and programs.



High School Diploma or equivalent
Must possess (6) years of technical experience in utility systems with a strong background in technical aspects of machinery, plumbing, electrical, equipment repair and maintenance.
Familiarity with cGMP manufacturing and regulatory requirements for pharmaceuticals and devices
Must be proficient using computers & software programs such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer, etc.
CMMS experience, preferred
Ability to work in a team and independently.
Must be able to communicate effectively with our co-workers, contractors, and inspectors.
Ability to visually inspect machinery and buildings.
Ability to frequently walk up and down stairs for inspections and emergency procedure practice or implementation.
Ability to climb ladders up to 40 feet and lift 60 lbs repeatedly.
Ability to detect emergency alarms - auditory and/or visual.
Physically able to operate electric hand tools, work on a ladder, carry tools, lift and carry heavy loads, operate a motor vehicle
Equipment inspections require getting on hands and knees to reach areas difficult to access.

Demonstrated knowledge of utility systems, with experience maintaining and improving systems for uptime and reliability.
Demonstrated ability to think critically and analytically; demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Good interpersonal, follow up, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to function efficiently and independently in a fast-paced, changing environment.
