Summary:
We are looking for a Temp Research Associate to join our Pre-Therapeutic Target Discovery group, working on a project related to mouse embryology. By examining the effects of biologics on embryonic development, this project is aimed at developing a new technology that will allow the elucidation of biologic mechanisms of specific classes of therapeutic targets.

Responsibilities:

1.Setting up timed-pregnancies in mice for the generation of embryos at multiple developmental time points

2. Administration of specified biologics (antibodies, Traps, recombinant proteins) to pregnant mice by intraperitoneal injection

3.Harvesting and microdissection of embryos and yolk sacs between gestational stages E9.5-E15.5

4. Collection of maternal and fetal blood serum samples

5. Immunohistochemical analysis of yolk sacs and embryos, both in whole mount and histological specimens

6. Whole mount in situ hybridization of embryonic specimens

7. Protein sample preparation from embryonic tissues and western blot analysis


Requirements

This position requires a minimum of a BS degree and at least 2 years of related lab experience. Additional requirements include:
1. Knowledge and experience in basic mouse handling - proper holding, weighing, gender determination

2. Experienced in delivery methods to mouse: intraperitoneal injection (i.p) is essential, but other methods are a plus (intavenous, cutaneous)

3. Assessment of timed pregnancies: setting up male-female crosses, plug checking, pregnancy assessment by weight monitoring

4. Collection of blood serum samples (maternal blood) by cardiac puncture

Preferred job skills

1. Embryo harvesting and microdissection of embryos and yolk sacs

2. Histology: sample preparation, processing, sectioning of embedded tissues (cryosectioning and/or paraffin embedded specimens)

3. Immunohistochemical methods: on histology sections and/or whole mount samples

4. Experience in RNA in situ hybridization - whole mount

5. Protein sample preparation and western blot analysis

6. Knowledge of cell culture is advantageous but not essential
