The Technical Writer will be responsible for producing engaging and informational scientific copy for marketing materials and the Tocris website, as part of the Marketing team based in Bristol and reporting to the local Marketing Manager. The role will also require the contribution of content for various marketing campaigns and to represent the company at industry trade shows. The initial fixed term contract will be for 9 months maternity cover. The role involves a moderate amount of domestic and international travel (mainly related to conferences and trade shows) and the role holder should be comfortable with going the extra mile required to meet marketing targets and deadlines

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The role includes but is not limited to the following responsiblities.

Write new product descriptions, pharmacologically categorize new products, and assist with the maintenance of scientific content on the Tocris website
Write and commission scientific copy for marketing materials, including product brochures, life science posters, scientific reviews and promotional flyers
Compose content for marketing campaigns, including e-alerts and other promotional materials
Review and proof read new website content and marketing materials
Liaise with the product management team to devise and produce technical material
Represent Bio-Techne and the Tocris brand at industry tradeshows
Collaborate with other Bio-Techne brand marketing and product management teams to cross sell the brands’ different product lines via a range of marketing materials
Maintain a scientific appreciation of the Bio-Techne product range and marketplace

Requirements

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

BSc to PhD level in a Life Science discipline
Pharmacological or Biochemical knowledge desirable
Technical (scientific) copy writing/editing
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong attention to detail
Excellent time management, organization, problem solving and interpersonal skills
Competent in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Knowledge of Adobe design software would be advantageous
A passport and full driver’s license are required. Occasional out of hours work (including weekend work) may be required.
