eFFECTOR Therapeutics, Inc. is a privately held biotechnology company located in San Diego, CA. eFFECTOR is developing selective translation regulators for the treatment of cancer.
eFFECTOR is currently recruiting for a synthetic chemistry position (initial 6 month contract, with the potential to turn into a full-time position). The primary focus of the role will be on route development and final compound preparation as well as complex problem solving in organic synthesis. Major responsibilities will involve participating in the synthesis, purification and characterization of small molecules. Successful candidates will be motivated, creative, hands-on laboratory scientists with the ability to interact effectively with team members in all areas of drug discovery.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in organic chemistry with at least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry; or PhD in synthetic organic chemistry with 0-2 years of postdoctoral experience.
-Experience in the design and execution of multi-step syntheses of complex heterocycles.
-Ability to independently solve complex problems relating to organic synthesis.
-Proven track record of successful scientific accomplishments, exemplified by patents, public presentations and/or peer-reviewed publications.
-Ability to maintain and use modern chemical instrumentation (LCMS, HPLC, etc.).
-Ability to interpret LCMS and NMR spectra.
-Motivated team player, able to work closely with other scientific disciplines involved in drug discovery to solve complex problems.
-Ability to work independently and to interact with a multidisciplinary team of medicinal and synthetic chemists, biologists, pharmacologists and external collaborators.
-Experience with use of modern electronic notebook systems.
-Strong oral and written communication skills.
