Job Description

Global Regulatory Affairs is currently seeking a Strategic Planning & Operations Senior Manager.  This position will report to the Vice President of Global Regulatory Affairs and is located in Thousand Oaks, CA.

The Strategic Planning & Operations Senior Manager will Partner with Department VP to drive and implement department goals and initiatives, and represent Department needs and collaborate cross-functionally at key R&D interfaces.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and managing operational objectives for the department.
  • Developing and maintaining business.
  • Representing the Department on process improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitate Department goal setting and initiatives and track deliverables.
  • Act as a sounding board/advisor to the VP on key activities and issues.
  • Identify and resolve upcoming issues within the Department, and interfaces with other departments.
  • Develop and/or drive execution of VP communication plan.
  • Facilitate preparation of internal presentations including All-Staff presentations and reports on business performance.
  • Represent the goals for the Department and partner with other functions such as Human Resources and Finance in support of Departmental objectives.
  • Work with VP to organize staff meetings to achieve objectives of the organization.
  • Identify lead or contribute to initiatives/process improvement opportunities as designated by VP.
  • Assist in interactions at senior level forums.
  • As Decision Making Super user, drive effective decision making in the Department.


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience


Master's degree and 6 years of biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience


Bachelor's degree and 8 years of biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience


Associate's degree and 10 years of biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience


High school diploma / GED and 12 years of biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters in Life Sciences, MPH, or MBA
  • 10 years work experience in life sciences or medically related field, including 7 years of research and development experience in biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical  industry
  • Knowledge to represent and evaluate strategies for Function and to critically evaluate advice
  • Extensive project management/project planning experience overseeing program deliverables, budgets, and timelines
  • Experience writing and presenting clearly to Senior Management audience
  • Experience leading teams in a matrix environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including listening & presentation skills
  • Customer service skills and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to establish trusted partnerships with colleagues at all levels
  • Ability to successfully prioritize a diverse workload to meet deadlines, and client expectations
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team, maintaining confidentiality
  • Flexibility, adaptability and sense of accountability
