Job Description

Global Medical is looking for a Strategic Planning and Operations Director who will directly partner with the Sr. Vice President to drive and implement Functional strategy, goals and initiatives.  The Strategic Planning and Operations Director will represent Functional needs and collaborate cross-functionally at key R&D interfaces, as well as facilitate the functional Executive Leadership Team.  This is a key role in helping to build and drive execution towards the Global Medical vision of being recognized as the industry's most accomplished and respected Medical organization by 2022.

Responsibilities include:

*Identifying strategic and operational objectives for the Function

*Support the SVP in strategy development, execution of organizational plans and proactive preparation of deliverables

*Advisor to the SVP on key activities and issues

*Work with SVP to organize staff meetings to achieve strategic objectives of the organization

*Assist in interactions at senior level forums as needed (e.g., joint leadership forums)

*Manage functional/cross-functional review committees

* Identifying Functional issues and driving resolution

*As Decision Making Super user, drive effective decision making in the Function

*Facilitate Management Incentive Plan (MIP) and Function goal setting and initiatives, and track progress

*Proactively identify and drive resolution of issues within the Function/Department, and at interfaces to other functions, other geographic regions

*Develop and/or drive execution of SVP communication plan

*Drive internal and external presentation development

*Develop and maintain business relationships across functions/departments (especially R&D and GCO)

*Business Review, CEO and All-Staff presentations, reports on business performance

*Represent the business strategy for the Function and partner with other functions such as Human Resources, Finance, and Corporate Communications in support of the strategy and goals

*Representing the Function on process change and improvement initiatives

*Identify, lead or contribute to cross-departmental/functional strategic initiatives/process improvement opportunities at interfaces with other functions, other geographic regions as designated by SVP

Requirements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of life sciences or biotech/pharmaceutical experience

OR

Master's degree and 8 years of life sciences or biotech/pharmaceutical experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 10 years of life sciences or biotech/pharmaceutical experience

AND

4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

*MBA or PharmD and 10 years work experience in life sciences or medically related field, including 7 years of research and development experience in biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical industry

*Pharma/Biotech industry knowledge with focus on Research and Development

*Knowledge to represent and evaluate strategies for Function and to critically evaluate advice

*Knowledge of Good X Practices, FDA and international regulations and guidelines

*Knowledge of biopharmaceutical compliance

*Project management/project planning experience overseeing program deliverables, budgets, and timelines

*Previous management experience (of direct reports and management level staff)

*Experience writing and presenting to Senior Executive audience

*Experience leading teams in a matrix environment

*Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including listening & presentation skills

*Conceptual and strategic thinking skills; can take concepts and execute independently

*Strong problem-solving skills

*Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to effectively work across the matrix

*Track record of establishing trusted partnerships with colleagues at all levels

*Ability to successfully prioritize a diverse workload to meet deadlines, and client expectations
