Astellas is announcing a Stem Cell Research Associate (Vascular), located in Marlborough, MA.

Purpose & Scope:

•   Performs experiments and progress research and/or development in collaboration with others. Makes detailed observations, analyzes data and interprets results. Investigates, creates and develops new methods and technologies for project advancement.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

•   Knowledge in stem cell biology and/or vascular biology related field
•   Prior experience working with cell cultures preferably from pluripotent stem cells (ES, iPS ), including working knowledge of knowledge and understanding of sterile techniques,cell culture practices.
•   Participates in and contributes to experimental design.
•   Makes recommendations to changes for experimental procedures to improve quality or productivity.
•   Understands and effectively conducts biological laboratory experiments utilizing internal and published procedures.
•   Ensures availability of all experimental materials.
•   Keeps current on published literature relevant to the work to increase knowledge and stay up-to-date with developments in the field.
•   Understands the proper use and maintenance of laboratory equipment and record keeping.

•   Communicates effectively with line manager and group members
•   Consistently achieves individual goals as set out in Star Performance

Organizational Context:

•   Reports to the next line manager.
•   Communicates with other members of multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications:

Required:

•   BA/BS or equivalent with relevant experience.
•   Working knowledge of routine and semi-routine laboratory procedures.
•   Solid working knowledge of applicable scientific discipline

Preferred:

•   Experience with developing and optimizing protocols for the directed differentiation and maturation
•   Solid working knowledge of cell/organ culture systems, flow cytometry, molecular biology, and fluorescence microscopy a plus
•   Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
•   Ability to work with a variety of personnel including staff, researchers, and academic supervisors.
