Description

* Administration and support of systems running Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008 and Linux Red Hat operating systems.

* Administration and support of backup systems and software. Develop and implement effective backup strategies.

* Administration and optimization of Active Directory group policy, OU structure, and login/logout scripts.

* Troubleshooting and problem resolution development and production environments.

* Implement software upgrades, including firmware revisions, operating systems, production software upgrades and other enhancements as required.

* Research new technologies and make recommendations for hardware, software,network and process/procedure improvements.

* Adjusts system parameters to obtain optimum performance for the specific situation.

* Analyzes software, subsystem, and platform problems using resources from system manuals, software tools, internet, vendors, and manufacturer's documentation to keep systems online and functioning properly.

* Monitors, assesses, and mitigates server and platform security related issues.

* Management and ownership of key critical systems such as VMware, SAN systems, file servers, Database servers and core infrastructure components.

* Assists the Network Infrastructure Administrator and Telecommunication Administrator in maintaining Network and Telephony functionality

* Administer Windows servers including capacity planning, storage administration, space management, capacity forecasting, asset and performance management, equipment life cycle management, and troubleshooting.

* Administer server system applications including the administration of VMware to create, modify and implement virtual servers, as well as balancing virtual server utilization, and managing capacity and performance.

* Administer data storage requirements for traditional servers, virtual servers and terminal servers. Allocate virtual storage, NAS, shares/export, storage configuration, hardware installation, volume management, and file system configuration and tools. Ensure system data backup and restore processes, as well as the scheduling of back-ups and the validity of each back-up. Manage the restore processes for both systems and users.

* Acts as a high-level SME in all server system services and storage matters.

* Provides support for the install, maintenance and customization of Red Hat Linux on HP Blades.

* Provides support for the Red Hat Directory Server (RHDS) and the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) configuration, performance, maintenance and operation.

* Evaluate impacts of new releases, develop test plans and implement into production environment.

* Provides support in patch management and HP SA software installation automation scripting.

* Assists in the development, implementation and execution of internal and industry standards, practices and processes for security, server hardware, operating system configuration and software.

* Provides support for HP blade hardware configuration and HP Blade virtual connect.

* Provides Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning and implementation support.

* Documents all work completed and provides weekly status reports.

* Demonstrates great follow up and customer service skills as well as strong project management, negotiation and relationship management skills.

* Supports CSV and follows required chanage managenment policies.

Requirements

Education:

* BA/BS from an Accredited Institution, required.

* Post Graduate Degree from an Accredited Institution, preferred.

* MCITP, VMware Certified Professional, Certification in project management, preferred.
Experience:

* 5-8 years of related experience in support and troubleshooting of Windows and Linux systems and VMware, 10 years of experience in performing server and storage admininstration, required.

* 8+ years of related experience in support and troubleshooting of Windows and Linux systems and VMware, 10+ years of experience in performing server and storage admininstration, preferred.
Other Qualifications:

* Experience in an environment using SAN technology

* Experience with SQL and Oracle

* Experience with ticketing systems

* Experience with SCCM or SMS

* Must have good project management skills

* Good written and verbal communication skills

* Good understanding of server performance and monitoring skills
