A qualified and motivated scientist will join a dynamic R&D team developing novel molecular methodologies and assays for diagnostic applications. These activities will also support the development of next generation diagnostic instrumentation. This individual will conceive, plan, design, and conduct advanced studies. He or she will investigate and develop new procedures. He or she will act as lead scientist, project leader, or independent contributor and will interact/coordinate with other groups and functionalities on project development/improvement. The successful candidate must have strong analytical and quantitative skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and a strong track record of independent and collaborative research.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system. Understand and consistently follow documented procedures. Apply advanced scientific knowledge to projects. Take initiatives to conceive and design feasibility and assay development studies according to the project need. Plan and coordinate advanced independent and collaborative studies required for product development, including feasibility, verification, validation and product launch. Provide technical and scientific leadership to other team members. Understand both theoretical and practical aspects of assay design. Optimize assay condition, improve product design and related processes and procedures, and troubleshoot technical issues. Document experimental results and findings accurately, timely and completely, and write summaries and reports. Analyze complex data critically by applying advanced computer skills. Develop conclusions based on information from multiple sources, take authorship in informed conclusions, and be willing to take difficult decisions or offer critical assessment. Influence decision-making through negotiation, addressing conflict, and by building productive working relationships across functional areas. Present complex technical findings and conclusions to internal or external audiences. Maintain a high level of professional expertise by staying current with scientific and industry literature, technologies and products.

Requirements

Basic Qualification:
• In-depth knowledge and expertise in developing automated molecular assays or methods, including real-time PCR, sequencing, or others.
• Skills in optimizing assay design and condition, including DOE optimization where appropriate.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Proficiency in technical writing for data summary and technical reports. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Willing to take on new and challenging assignments and to implement new ideas or alternative solutions. Take thoughtful and timely action when confronted with a problem.
• Capable of adjusting to dynamic working environment and changing priorities, and of ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks.


Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge in state of the art of molecular instrumentation. Experience in integrating assay chemistry with highly automated instrumentation.
• Previous project management and supervisory experience.
• Advanced skills in statistical analysis.
• Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics.


 


EDUCATION REEQUIREMENTS


Ph.D. in a life or physical science with industrial experience; Or B.S./M.S. degree with research experience sufficient to demonstrate equivalency.
