Job Description

Zymeworks is seeking a creative and analytical immunologist with a proven track record of applying cutting edge cellular and biochemical methods to understand pathogenic human T cell responses.  This position requires drug discovery project leadership abilities; ideal candidates will employ a hands-on approach to designing, managing, and conducting studies to support therapeutic lead candidate identification. This position will report to the Principal Scientist, Therapeutics Reseach and can be based in Seattle, WA or Vancouver, BC.


Roles and Responsibilities:

Leads bispecific antibody drug discovery program to potentiate anti-tumor T cell responses

Designs in vitro and in vivo assays to evaluate immuno-oncology target mechanism-of-action and discover preclinical development candidates

Manages all aspects of antibody drug discovery project execution: including cloning, production/purification, hit antibody discovery screens, in vitro functional evaluation, pharmacology, preliminary manufacturability, PK, and tolerability risk assessment

Provides scientific guidance to immuno-oncology, infectious disease and autoimmunity/inflammation pipelines

Prepares and presents materials for scientific, business, and external meetings

Contributes to patent application filings

Authors study reports and contributes to regulatory document research report generation

May supervise multiple scientific team members

Requirements

PhD in immunology or related discipline with a minimum of 5 to 8 years’ related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Ideal candidates will have >3 years industrial experience in therapeutic antibody drug discovery

Demonstrated success and technical proficiency in antigen-specific primary human T cell response platforms

Scientific domain expertise in T cell biology, immuno-oncology, and, ideally, infectious disease

Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a high paced, fast changing environment. Results orientated

Critical observation skills and strong statistical analysis capability

Excellent oral, presentation and scientific/technical writing skills

Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of cross-functional team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
